Hub, Balochistan – May 17, 2025 : A peaceful corner meeting organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in Rasheedabad, Hub, reportedly faced police interference earlier today. According to information shared on BYC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, a heavy police presence allegedly disrupted the gathering, resulting in the detention of three local residents.
The event, held under the BYC Lasbela chapter, was intended to mobilize grassroots support and raise awareness about issues facing the Baloch community. However, the organization claims the authorities tried to stifle dissent by deploying excessive force, harassing attendees, and detaining individuals without any stated cause.
In response, families of the detained individuals staged a protest by blocking the road, which reportedly led to the release of the arrested persons.
The BYC condemned the incident, stating that no level of intimidation will halt its campaign against alleged human rights violations in the region. The group affirmed its commitment to peaceful activism, political awareness, and community-driven efforts.
“BYC will continue to expose and resist the ongoing Baloch genocide and state repression through grassroots mobilization, political education, and collective action,” the statement on X said.
While the claims made by BYC have not been independently verified, the incident has stirred concern among local observers and human rights circles about the freedom of assembly in the region.
