Balochistan News Desk | May 17, 2025 – In a recent post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Baloch activist Mir Yar Baloch claimed that Balochistan holds significant untapped oil and natural gas reserves. He further alleged that ongoing local resistance has been a major factor preventing resource extraction by Pakistan and China.

The video accompanying the post appears to show a site in Balochistan described as containing oil and diesel wells. According to Baloch, “there are thousands of oil wells spread across the province,” but due to widespread public resistance, large-scale commercial drilling has not been permitted.

“Balochistan is Bharat’s future strategic ally… Cooperation with Balochistan can pave the way for agreements between the elected inclusive government of Balochistan and Bharat (India),” he added.

Energy and Strategic Implications for India

The post suggests a possible future collaboration between India and a self-governed Balochistan in sectors such as oil, natural gas, and pipeline infrastructure. The proposal envisions pipeline routes connecting Balochistan to Rajasthan, providing energy supplies directly into the Indian mainland.

While these claims are speculative and reflect the views of the activist, they sparked interest among geo-political analysts and energy observers, especially given India’s growing energy demands and regional strategic aspirations.

Context & Caution

At present, there is no formal or official agreement between the Government of India and any representative body of Balochistan. The region remains under Pakistan’s territorial control and the topic is highly sensitive geopolitically.

Analysts caution that such statements, while aspirational, must be viewed within the broader context of regional politics, diplomacy, and international law.

Disclaimer: The claims in this report reflect the views of Mir Yar Baloch as posted publicly. No independent verification of the oil reserves or proposed strategic alignments has been made.
