Turbat, May 15, 2025 : A heart-wrenching plea from a Baloch mother has drawn attention to the continuing crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. Holding the Holy Quran tightly to her chest, she stands before the world, appealing for the safe return of her son, Naeem Bashir, a college student allegedly abducted by Pakistani security forces on February 5, 2025.
“Naeem is our only son. For the sake of this Quran, return him to us.”
This moving statement, shared by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) via their official Twitter account, has resonated across social media. The committee emphasized that no warrant, legal process, or trial was presented at the time of Naeem’s disappearance — a pattern frequently reported in the region.
According to the BYC, such incidents are not isolated but part of a larger crackdown targeting the Baloch population and especially those associated with civil resistance. The organization condemns these disappearances as violations of basic human rights and calls them “war crimes committed in the shadows.”
The mother’s appeal, described by BYC as the “sound of a nation being silenced,” is a powerful reminder of the growing desperation and grief among Baloch families whose loved ones remain missing — often for years, without information or justice.
