The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has raised serious concerns about the continued human rights abuses in Balochistan, citing an alarming increase in enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in recent days.
In a recent statement shared on the social media platform X, the BYC warned that social media remains one of the last few tools available for the Baloch community to report violations and draw global attention. The group emphasized that despite the lack of widespread coverage, the suffering in Balochistan has not ceased— it is being deliberately silenced through state-controlled media narratives and digital censorship.
The committee accused Pakistani authorities of controlling information, using algorithms to suppress Baloch voices, and creating an atmosphere of fear and misinformation. BYC warned that digital suppression has allowed human rights violations to continue unchecked.
Several key leaders of BYC —including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shahjee, Bebagr Baloch, Gulzadi, and Beebow Baloch —are currently being held without due process, the committee said. Their arrests are viewed as part of a broader campaign to suppress peaceful dissent.
According to the BYC, in just the past 48 hours, dozens of individuals have reportedly been forcibly abducted by security forces. Among the victims is 14-year-old Shareef Ullah, who has allegedly disappeared without a trace. The committee also reported that two young men were killed in suspected extrajudicial encounters, adding to the deepening humanitarian crisis.
The BYC stressed that these incidents are being shared in real time on their platforms to ensure the world is informed. The group concluded its statement by urging journalists, activists, and international organizations to recognize the crisis and take action, describing the situation as an “ongoing genocide.”
