BLA recent firearms use report (three)

Part three Ancient ,local imitated and rare weapons

In the backward border areas that are difficult to be managed by the Pakistani government, there has always been a tradition of  firearms manufacturing. Places such as Khyber Mountain Pass and Dala Village have become famous for its folk firearms workshops. Although the quality, accuracy and lifespan are inevitably inferior to the original ones, the home-made firearms also have the advantage of being cheap and difficult to be traced and supervised. On the other hand, the constant conflicts in Pakistan and Afghanistan have also left a wide variety of firearms, ancient and modern. Although some firearms are old and lack of compartments , they still have a certain value for separatist armed forces who do not have a stable source of weapons acquisition. In addition, due to the poor performance of the Pakistani army’s conventional forces in conflicts with the separatist armed forces, the BLA can often obtain a considerable amount of Pakistan-made weapons.

Part four Conclusion

As rebel groups without a stable source of weapons, the unique weapon configuration of the Balochistan separatist armed forces such as the BLA can well explain the “weapon ecology” that has been formed in the Pakistan-Afghanistan region for a long time, it  even reflects the modern history and unique characteristics of the region’s conflicts as well as geopolitics. In addition, we can also see new challenges to counter-terrorism and security caused by the proliferation of high-tech device (such as night vision equipment) .
